Ausstellung METABOLISM, THE CITY OF THE FUTURE

Metabolism ist eine Bewegung der modernen Architektur, die um 1960 in Japan entstanden ist, als das Land mit dem Wiederaufbau nach dem Krieg beschäftigt war. Das schnelle Wirtschaftswachstum hatte zu lebhaften Debatten und Experimenten auf dem Sektor der Architektur geführt, um die ideale Stadt zu planen.
Die im Mori Art Museum zu sehende Ausstellung ist die erste, die einen kompletten Überblick der Bewegung gibt, mit über 500 Zeugnissen und interessanten Überlegungen auch für die heutigen Probleme.
Es sind rund 80 Projekte, die dem japanischen Publikum zum ersten Mal gezeigt werden, erzählt anhand von Plastiken, Zeichnungen, Skizzen, Fotos und Filmen aus den Archiven. Es werden vor allem die Architekturen vorgestellt, die von den als "Metabolisten" bezeichneten Architekten entworfen und realisiert wurden, angefangen mit dem, der als Wegbereiter der Bewegung gilt, nämlich der Architekt Kenzo Tange mit dem Hiroshima Peace Center.
