The Fiandre group welcomed Metragramma and 5+1AA to its exhibition and production spaces for a day of study and reflections on Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™, sustainable architecture and new visionary projects.

A study day with Metrogramma and 5+1AA on Active Ceramic, ecology and utopian visions. To personally check out the innovative production cycles of ceramic tiles, the application of Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ and the wide variety of possible applications in architecture: these formed the basis for the meeting held on 22 November at the FMG/Iris Ceramica headquarters in Fiorano Modenese. A day of study and reflections involving Alessandro Bellus from 5+1AA along with Andrea Boschetti and Alberto Francini from Metrogrammma. These two renowned Italian design firms had already demonstrated their attention to the cultural initiatives promoted by the Modena-based ceramic tile group, attending the inauguration of the Next Landmark exhibition held in August at the Architecture Biennale in Venice.

The presentation of the innovative Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™ technology immediately posed a significant reflection: the ecological philosophy must be a production and design process in the first place and not just an image in itself. In actual fact, the image, in turn must only represent the cultural principle of compelling research that lies upstream of eco-sustainable choices. At this point, Andrea Boschetti from Metrogramma took the floor and expanded on this theme, introducing utopian visions as new bridges for a possible reality in the development of contemporary architecture. A humanistic concept that seems to have fallen asleep in the past 20 years; however, if it is reawakened it will be possible to recreate the conditions for true sustainable development of the territory. An ethical sense of the design discipline to reintroduce into all future projects to go back to considering places as a space for humans.

A stimulating meeting full of great ideas for the kind of architecture that can combine sustainable technical innovation and spaces designed to share ideas, all to take up the challenge of a new step towards design that really can improve the quality of living.
